Promoting and advancing sustainable development in rural Haiti

Educational Outreach

Partners in Progress’ educational outreach programs and materials are practical and oriented towards action, aiming to make known the  realities of Haiti today, the challenges facing the poor  majority of Haitians, and the successes of our “odds defying” collaborators in communities like Deslandes and Fondwa.

Many of the tools we use come from the People of Haiti. We share their images, their words and their visions. Along the way, we add our first hand experiences in conjunction with relevant facts as we guide participants in a meaningful way along the path of awareness, compassion and commitment.

Our educational initiatives are designed for a variety of audiences and educational backgrounds and include:

  • Educational outreach presentations by PIP staff and board members to grade school, high school and university students, church and community groups and healthcare workers.

  • Educational tourism trips for those from the United States who are willing and able to travel. These trips allow participants to experience first hand, the beauty and the need that exists in Haiti.

  • Educational materials for K-12 linking Haiti and the world at large through concepts of environmental, social and economic sustainability

We seek to address critical questions such as:

“What are the challenges facing Haiti – and by analogy the world – today?”  “Why should we help the people of Haiti when there are so many people in our own country who need help?”  “What can we do as individuals to make a difference when there is such great need?”
