TOURIST EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Other Projects

The APF tourist educational program hosts delegations from the United States, Canada, and Europe, giving our visitors the opportunity to learn about the daily struggles of life in the rural provinces of Haiti. The program lasts on average 5 days.

The APF Community Center located in the central valley of Fondwa has the capacity to accomodate 60 guests at a time. The Tonmgato Guest House (part of the Commercial Center) also hosts visitors who wish to participate in shorter visits and prefer to not descend the mountain down to the APF Community Center.

The program consists of seminars, work activities, and project visits. Each gives the visitor a chance to see what the results of development are in this community and to gain insight about prospects for the future. In addition, visitors get to actively participate in seminars and activities with the people of Fondwa. All this is geared toward enabling visitors to gain a deeper understanding of what community and sustainable development mean in the hands of the people and to experience first-hand the struggle of the rural poor against poverty.
